School Redistricting

This summer, I served on the school system's Attendance Area Committee. HCPSS will open a new elementary school in 2013, and it needs boundary lines drawn. Plus, many schools are over-enrolled, so that needs to be fixed, too. This series shares a variety of stories of the redistricting process from different perspectives.

The school system publishes school planning and redistricting information, including the proposed plan and Attendance Area Committee meeting notes here - http://www.hcpss.org/schoolplanning/

  1. Lisa, thank you and the other AAC members for all your hard work over the past few months. I am very sorry that the superintendent decided to second guess all your hard work at the 11th hour. The final plan being recommended to the BOE is completely unacceptable, as 6 schools will be overcrowded by 2014, and 11 schools by 2018 (some as much as 140% capacity)... L10 was the way to go and the best option for Howard County as a whole.
